Hello! My name is Mrs. Jessica Fanara. I have been playing the piano for 20 years. In December 2011, I received my B.S. in Secondary Education with a focus on Music and Science.
As a college student, I worked for Noteworthy Music School, as a group piano instructor from 2009 - 2011. In 2010, I was selected to intern for San Jose Progressions. I was their first teacher employee to start after-school music programs and help collaborate in developing a curriculum in various San Jose public schools. I was also privileged to be closely mentored by Anne Laskey, a professor of Music at Holy Names University and director of Kodaly Center for Music Education. I was also trained by Harley Christensen, the previous Director of Education and Development for San Jose Jazz.
Upon college graduation in 2011, I taught 1st and 2nd grade at a Christian School in Chicago, IL. After one year of living in Chicago, my husband and I moved back to our hometown, Santa Clara. In 2012, I taught the music program at Delphi Academy. When I was hired at Delphi, they had not had a music teacher or music program in several years. In just the first year at Delphi, I was able to lead and direct two successful Elementary and Middle School musical programs, conduct four piano recitals, and develop a music curriculum that suited their school needs.
In 2013, I accepted to rebuild and teach the Elementary (135+ voice choir) and Middle School Music program at North Valley Baptist School. I personally had over 60 private piano students ranging from ages 4 through 56. In 2016, with a growing waitlist, I hired on two teachers to help continue the growth of the music business.
I try to continue to grow in my musical and teaching knowledge. Every summer, I attend community college courses to broaden my musical knowledge in the area of Voice and Piano. I also played violin and cello in my high school orchestra. I enjoy arranging music; and I have written love songs for various weddings. I consider myself a musician, but my passion is teaching.
